The
Warragul Cemetery Trust consists of up to eleven community-minded
members.
The Trust is appointed by the Victorian Government to assist in
the running,
organisation and maintenance of the two Warragul Cemeteries -
Victoria Street and Gulwarra Heights Memorial Park.
The
Warragul Cemetery - better known as Victoria Street Cemetery -
is an area of 10 acres on the corner of Victoria and Sutton Streets
Warragul.
Our second cemetery, Gulwarra Heights Memorial Park was oficially
opened in March 1990
and its 57 acre site is designed to help meet future needs.
The
Trust members, serving five year terms, meet monthly to address
the administration of both cemeteries.
They are responsible for policy, governance and infrastructure
planning,
and oversee the work of professional staff who manage services
provided at both cemeteries.
With
the first stage at Gulwarra Heights gradually filling, the Warragul
Cemetery Trust is planning expansion of the Cemetery to double
the size of the area used for burials and interments at Gulwarra
Heights Memorial Park.
Roadworks development commenced in late 2018, and was completed
in 2021.
Construction works included road works, drainage and establishing
additional rows of plinths.
This will accommodate increasing demand for burials generated
by our rapidly growing local community.
